Suicide Awareness & Prevention Fundraising Challenge!

On June 16th, 2018, I lost my 22-year-old son Jamie to suicide.

In honor of what would have been Jamie’s 24th birthday coming up on August 8th, I am collecting donations to spread the word about Suicide Awareness & Prevention. I would like to invite you to donate in an effort to save lives and stop the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.

Did you know that on average 10 Canadians lose their lives to suicide EVERY SINGLE DAY? And that 200 others attempt to take their lives? This has got to STOP!!

If you are feeling suicidal, please reach out. You are not alone, even though it may feel that way. Visit http://www.crisisservicescanada.ca/ to call, chat, or text with someone who can help. Call a friend, a family member, a church leader, go to the emergency room, or call 911.

If you know someone who is feeling hopeless, overwhelmed, or depressed, please do whatever you can to help them, including contacting the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention (CASP) at https://suicideprevention.ca/ or the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) at https://cmha.ca/.

These organizations offer assistance to those who are suicidal, have attempted suicide, friends and family of those who have lost a loved one to suicide, and those who are concerned that a loved one may be considering suicide.

I couldn’t save my son. But maybe, just maybe, if we work together we can save someone else’s son or daughter. Someone else’s husband, wife, sister, brother or friend.

Talk about mental health, talk about suicide. Spread awareness. Awareness breeds prevention. Are you ready to help?

Save Lives; Stop the Stigma!
