Back in January, I signed up for a short story competition along with 4500+ other writers around the globe.
In the first round we had to write an original story with a maximum word count of 2500 in 8 days. At the very last minute, when the countdown began, contestants were given their story parameters.
Mine were:
Genre: thriller
Character to be included: kidnapper
Subject: freezing
The writers of the top 5 stories in each group of 40 or so contestants get to move on to round two.
I am excited to announce that my story made it into the top 5 in my group and that I will be writing a new, original story in round two!
This time, the word count limit is 2000 and we only have 3 days to write and submit our stories. The contestant pool has dropped from 4500+ to about 790 writers.
The countdown starts at midnight tonight EST at which time we will be provided with a new genre, character, and event.
